Grave and tombstone

Leon Sheleff's grave
at Kfar Nachman, Raanana
Description
Shaz's tombstone is in two parts: The standing plaque gives his name, his parents' names, and the years of his birth and death.
The horizontal plaque gives a quote from the Bible, I Kings 3:11-12. It is from the story of Solomon who, upon being crowned king, dreams that God has come to ask him what he wants from Him. Solomon asks for an understanding heart, so that he can judge the people wisely. The passage we chose is from God's reply:
"Because...
you did not ask for long life,
nor for riches,
nor for the lives of your enemies,
but you asked for understanding to judge wisely--
Behold, I have done what you asked:
Behold, I have given you this day
a wise and understanding heart..."
We felt that this passage perfectly summed up Shaz's attitude towards life and his great heart.
We purchased the plot next to his, and turned it into a garden - he used to love to sit outside and work and look lovingly at our garden. We planted a bush called the Abraham Plant, which we felt was especially appropriate in light of the work that he had done on the story of Abraham and Isaac, and we put in some petunias like the ones we have in our garden.
